Analogies

I created the graphic organizer found in Marzano, page 28, figure 2.8. My students have enjoyed using this organizer as they were working with analogies in relation to grammar and figures of speech. After I modeled an example for them, they completed about fifteen more analogies. To their delight, we then used an internet site that quizzed them on verbs, adjectives, and adverbs using the same format for analogies as their worksheet. We formed teams and had a fun contest where all were focused. Let me know if you would like me to email you the graphic organizer I built. It really did help them focus on what to look for when working with analogies.

  1. That sounds like something I could use. It is fun when students get excited about their learning. Using this model seems like it worked well for you. Do you have any suggestions to use it other than what you've posted?
